"Coverage in the mass media are balanced very necessary so as not to be advocates against some groups that are vulnerable to the issue of HIV / AIDS, gender, or sexuality issues," said program manager DIY Maisurzaky IPPA Youth Center in Yogyakarta, on Monday.
For that, in future, IPPA has the initiative to establish a news agency with the goal to be able to balance the reporting on HIV / AIDS, reproductive health, as well as gender.
As a first step, the institution is mapping to the preaching about HIV / AIDS, reproductive health, and gender in various mass media in 10 cities in Indonesia.
"We try to reread and then develop a reading frame on these issues to build an alternative pemberitan about sensitive issues," said Maisurzaky.
According to him, a news agency that will be built, the plan called Swara Nusa, then serves as a counterweight to provide alternative coverage to the issue of HIV / AIDS, reproductive health, as well as gender.
"This is a form of struggle to defend IPPA groups terpojokkan by broadcasting news that is not balanced," he said.
Meanwhile, Regional Managing Director of IPPA DIY Mukhotib MD stated that mass media has an important role in providing information and influencing public thinking pattern.
He said that, eventually, the presence of Nusa Swara news agency is also expected to become a vessel provider of data and facts on an ongoing basis.
